: SBF's weekend : October 3-5 :

... good morning SBF. Just a quick post about this coming weekend. As you know, Friday night and Saturday your pastoral search committee, co-chaired by Bert Z and Tim D will be 'pre-interviewing' three potential pastoral candidates. Doug S sits on that committee as elder team liaison, so he will be doing double-duty for about 24 hours straight, as the elders will meet with each candidate over a meal when their interview is completed.

Doug has reminded us graciously each of the last few Sundays to be "in prayer" for this process, as it is vitally important to SBF's future. These are the first face-to-face meetings, both ways, SBF folks meeting a possible pastor, and vice versa, so ... pray!

Switching gears to this Sunday, as you know SBF took a 'love offering' for Marco Faasse and his family back in August. Marco will be speaking this week, and we are very much looking forward to hearing the amazing story of God's prompting, and moving, and re-settling the Faasses from Holland to Central Saanich. We will have the privilege of giving Marco and Magreet a cheque to offset the costs of re-locating the mobile home that was given to them from Shawnigan Lake to as close to Tsawout as we can get it.

Finally? there's has been a great response to the Fellowship Potluck Lunch. If you missed signing up? give Nina a call today or Friday. Looks to me like a couple of dozen families or individuals have signed up, and the spread looks pretty even ... but if you are coming last minute, a cheese tray, a sandwich plate, a veggies 'n dip combo would be great. I think there is room for some room for helpers to put food out as the service winds down, and also to clean up. Luke's and Nathan's name are on for dishes!

Well, that's about it. Thanks for checking in ...

: coming soon ... to an sbf near you :

... okay, so this will probably be more of a heads up 'teaser' post ...

I brought the camera in today, and have been snapping pictures of Nina @ work, Marguerite doing books ( or something ), Cathy's Wed AM ladies Bible Study, my cluttered desk and a few outside shots. I'll have to get my Gr 10 son Colin to 'import' these pics into my laptop so I can post them, so once that happens I'll have some graphics to work with. but until then? ... here's another teaser ... we hope to register the website domain name today ... been back and forth on what to use? www.sbf.ca ... the old one? www.mysbf.org seemed too 'in-house' for an outreaching church ... and Googling SBF doesn't get you far, as an earlier post explained. So we think we are going to go for the whole enchilada ... www.saanichtonbiblefellowship.??? hoping that people looking for us on-line will have been results if the whole name is there, as opposed to something much shorter, even if it is easier for us. The techies may yet find a shortcut for insiders, or a link or something, but ... that's the plan as it stands right now.

We wanted to be able to say to these three potential pastoral candidates being 'pre-interviewed' this weekend that we had a website up and running. Thanks, Jonah ... and Steve, Barry and Dennis for putting some time and energy into this. We'll let you know when it goes live!

: bad patterns develop easily ... for me that is :

... here it is 2008-09-29 ... and even MY math says I am posting every 10 days ... Sept 9, Sept 19, Sept 29. Bad news, I'll try to do a little better these next weeks. Maybe I can blame the lack of posting to Dennis' vacation? I've been impressed and encouraged by him ... his experience, wisdom, get stuff done approach. Of course I observed his ministry and leadership at Oaklands all these years, but from a distance. Working closely with him has been a real plus. I also mentioned last Sunday I had a nice, long meandering coffee with John. What a gift he has been to SBF, and continues to be. I was picking his brains on all kinds of positive developments here at Saanichton this last year or so, abd he was great at helping me fill in the blanks, join the dots, add 2+2 and get 4, not 5.5, or 3. I think it is nearly impossible to over-estimate the contribution these two men, and their wives, have made to SBF as this transition rolled out. Personally? while there is still a lot to do, my sense is I am getting to ride on the coattails of the investment John & Joan, and Dennis & Olive, have made over 207-2008. Anyhow, just some Monday morning over a coffee thoughts.

More tangibly, I've been putting some time and energy into figuring out who is leading what, where and why, and who is or isn't on those ministry teams. Those meetings have been great, and we will have a tentative date for a ministry leaders meeting soon. Until then? here's a little visual for you ... not quite an "org chart" but a ministry chart. Basically, trying to answer the question ... 'who's on first?' and maybe tell us 'who's wearing 3 hats?' ...
